Who is allowed to drive a forklift?

A US company has been fined over $100,000 by OSHA after an accident investigation revealed they allowed an employee to operate a forklift even though he had restrictions specifying no use of his right hand, and lacked training.

The accident left an 18 year old carpenter’s apprentice dead after he was struck by the forklift while mixing concrete.  Another worker was injured in the accident.

If you are an employer it is your duty to ensure employees have been trained and are able to operate your forklift.  As an employee, if you have not received training don’t even get on the equipment.
