In our training travels we do encounter some really good forklift operators and some not so good ones. But even the best sometimes forget something really important. Driving a forklift requires a constant heightened state of awareness, you can’t afford to be distracted even for a second.
The three most common errors we find are: not lowering the load or forks as soon as possible, driving too fast, and not looking behind before backing up.
So here’s the deal: drive it slow, keep it low and check behind before you go.
