Stopping loading accidents

An operator of a stand-up “dockstocker” forklift was seriously injured this weekend in a loading dock accident.  He apparently drove into an enclosed semi trailer as the driver was straightening it up.  This resulted in the forklift falling off the dock and the operator being ejected and pinned underneath.

Loading dock accidents are common, and usually caused by a company having no safety policies in place or operators/drivers not following the policies.

If operators are driving into trailers, this should be covered in their forklift training program.
