Stopping loading accidents

An operator of a stand-up “dockstocker” forklift was seriously injured this weekend in a loading dock accident. ┬áHe apparently drove into an enclosed semi trailer as the driver was straightening it up. ┬áThis resulted in the forklift falling off the dock and the operator being ejected and pinned underneath.

Loading dock accidents are common, and usually caused by a company having no safety policies in place or operators/drivers not following the policies.

If operators are driving into trailers, this should be covered in their forklift training program.
