Secure forklift from movement

Even if it is an emergency, you must remember to secure your forklift from movement before getting off – this means applying the park brake and putting the controls in neutral, otherwise here is an example of what can happen:

“Two men were taken to the hospital to be treated for leg and  hip injuries after a piece of granite fell onto one worker and another was  injured when he jumped out of a forklift to help his  co-worker.  One of  the men was attempting to move a piece of granite onto a forklift, while the  other man handled the vehicle but the granite appeared to be too heavy for the first man, and fell on him.  Seeing  his co-worker in distress, the forklift driver jumped out of the vehicle but  forgot to put the forklift in neutral, causing the forklift to roll into both  men.”
