A tragic accident this week is yet another reason for retail environments where customers shop in what is essentially the warehouse area to consider their forklift policies very carefully.
A shopper at a store in the US was killed instantly when a stack of tiles fell off the rack on top of him. This load had recently been placed there by the forklift operator and was stacked on top of another load.
Improper training, incorrect stacking procedures, lack of space – all things to consider in any forklift operations, be it a co-worker or a customer who pays the ultimate price for a very basic lack of safety.
If it is too heavy and not stable don’t put it up there. It really can be that simple.
