It’s amazing how many companies do not realize that proper training is required on powered pallet trucks. Whether you are using a walkie or walkie rider or even a centre rider style, these units are not toys and can be very dangerous if not used correctly.
Loaded a pallet jack can easily weigh as much as a pick-up truck, sometimes even more.
The most common injuries involve feet or ankles – either of the operator or a bystander.
If you are not familiar with the controls it is very easy for a pallet jack to run away from you or worse still run into you.
Like all mobile equipment, pre-use inspections are required.
An operator manual must be available.
And an operator must be trained to the CSA standard.
