North American Occupational Health & Safety week starts tomorrow (May 5, 2013) and runs for a week.
This is basically an exercise in awareness and education that encourages companies and individuals across North America to focus on preventing injury and illness in the workplace.
There is an impressive range of activities including company forklift competitions, fall protection demonstrations, lifting technique demonstrations and lots more. Corporations, municipalities and community organizations all have a chance to participate with their own activities.
If you think this sounds boring, consider the impact that an accident can have on your life by viewing “Before Day’s End“.
We are always looking for new safety resources to use in our programs and look forward to the results of the It’s Your Job video contest, also part of the NAOSH week events. The contest challenges secondary school students to develop an original video that can be used in social media to illustrate to younger workers the importance of working safely on the job. Watch this space for the results.
