Many injuries involve pedestrians around forklifts. As an operator you really have to look, look and look again. People are often working in close proximity to the forklift and some don’t have any idea how to behave around mobile equipment. What can you do? Move your head around in the cab so that you have some vision around the blind spots created by the mast, hoses and chains. Use those eyes in the back of your head before backing up, not as you move but before you move. Remember the operator is responsible for the safe operation of the equipment at all times.
