“Finesse: to do something in a subtle and delicate manner”
This is not a term commonly associated with forklifts but it is one we use in our training programs.
Forklifts are sensitive and do require delicate handling.
Load stability is vital for safe operation so the more delicately the operator handles the controls, the more stable the load will be. Yanking on the levers, accelerating too hard, tilting excessively and raising the forks too fast are all to be avoided.
If, on the other hand, you feather the controls we will call you a “smooth operator”.
