Powered pallet truck safety

It’s amazing how many companies do not realize that proper training is required on powered pallet trucks.  Whether you are using a walkie or walkie rider or even a centre rider style, these units are not toys and can be very dangerous if not used correctly.

Loaded a pallet jack can easily weigh as much as a pick-up truck, sometimes even more.

The most common injuries involve feet or ankles – either of the operator or a bystander.

If you are not familiar with the controls it is very easy for a pallet jack to run away from you or worse still run into you.

Like all mobile equipment, pre-use inspections are required.

An operator manual must be available.

And an operator must be trained to the CSA standard.
