A forklift operator’s priority should always be to watch out for humans first and foremost.
But collisions with objects or structures can also be disastrous.
Last week a roof gave way at a packaging company in the US – reportedly after an employee driving a forklift crashed into one of the building’s support beams. The roof collapse also damaged the sprinkler pipes inside the building, causing extensive flood-damage. Much of the water started to freeze inside the building because of the extreme cold. Twenty workers were evacuated, fortunately with no injuries.
Operators check your clearances before moving in any direction.
