Bells and whistles on your forklift

Often overlooked, the “bells and whistles” on your forklift should also be inspected before use.  By this we mean the accessories which are actually necessities for safe forklift operation.  It’s amazing how often you find a forklift with lights that don’t work, a back-up alarm that works only occasionally, a worn seat belt, a loose hood cover – these are just some examples.   Anything that is not functioning correctly compromises the safety of the operator and the people who work around the equipment.

Please make sure you conduct a comprehensive pre-shift inspection – don’t just check the obvious like the brakes and hydraulics.  All the bells and whistles are there for a reason.
