2014 BC day of mourning

In January 2011, four-year old Liam did something that no child should ever have to do: he said goodbye to his dad. That’s because his dad, Sam, went to work and never came home – due to a tragic forklift incident.

For Sam’s wife, Shelly, and their three children, the national Day of Mourning on April 28 is a chance to honour Sam’s memory and to remember all 128 workers in British Columbia who lost their lives last year due to workplace injury or disease.

If you would like to get involved in this sobering reminder to work safely, you can get complimentary decals and posters for your workplace from WorkSafe.
